Welcome to My Genealogy Obsession! This new domain has been a long time in planning processes and I hope you enjoy it.
There are fun and new plans in the works and I am hoping to bringing them to you soon. Here is the information on the ones that I can discuss right now.
Accidental Techie
Here at My Genealogy Obsession, I plan on expanding this category to include the latest GeneaTech news, tips, how to use social media for genealogy and possibly a few webinars and instructional videos on all things genealogy and technology. I am looking at including subjects like beginning blogging for genealogists, putting your family tree online, how to use WordPress or other CMS’ for your genealogy website (Ooooh! Maybe even a boot-camp? Things that make you go hmmmm?), and scouring the internet for the best apps and tools for the genealogist just to name a few. I am open to suggestions as well. If you have an idea of something you would like to see here on My Genealogy Obsession, comment below and I will see what I can bring to the table.
My Genealogy Research
I will continue to post about my triumphs and foibles as I research my ancestry in the U.S, but I will also include more of my Mexican research as well. My posts will include any new resources, whether for U.S. or Mexican research, general information and new tips that I may come across.
My Genealogy
I have taken the plunge and purchase The Next Generation of Genealogy Site Building’s (TNG) software and have already added my family tree to My Genealogy Obsession. Want to take a look? Click the “Genealogy” tab in the menu above and you will be taken to my welcome page. Don’t worry, you don’t need to log in. If you click on either the Stanard/Sullivan (Steve’s family) or the Luna/Sanchez (my family) menu buttons, you will be taken to that family’s tree. Not to worry about seeing private information. The Stanard/Luna Genealogy site is set up to not show any living person’s personal information to those who are not logged in. Only proven family members will be given login credentials and will be able to see the information on the living.
Advertising – With this change to the new domain, I will be incurring costs so I will be starting putting advertising up on the website soon. I will make sure that what ever I advertise, it will be something that I wholeheartedly believe in. You can read more about my Privacy Policy and Affiliate Disclosure here.
