I usually figure out my year of conferences and have a plan set by the end of January. When planning, I consider my finances and the vacation time I have available at my day job. This year, my plans are restricted by vacation time and personal family time. This is my daughter’s senior year in high school so alot of my vacation time is wrapped up in her graduation and taking her to Hawaii in August as a celebration trip. I also have my vacation with my husband and our annual trip to Fontana, CA for the Nascar race in March. Also this year in March, I have planned my first trip to the NonProfit TEchnology Conference (NTEC) put on my NonProfit Technology Enterprise Network (NTEN). I also have my annual Southern California Genalogical Society’s Jamboree in June for a few day. So this maxis out my vacation time for the year. I have been hearing so much from my genealogy friends about RootsTech this year. I was on the fence about attending next year, but then I was inspired. I am excited to say, that I plan on attending Roots Tech in 2017.
What was I inspired by, you ask? Well it was Stan Ellsworth in this video.

I want to find my family’s American ride, take my adventure. It has been a wonderful and long ride so far, I’m excited to see where the ride will take me next.
So I am going to need help from my genealogy friends who live in places that has snow in winter. As a So. Cal. girl born and bred, I don’t know how to dress properly for actual snow covered (partially or fully) ground. I will need tips and probably a roommate.
So I have said it, put it out there to the universe. I am going to Roots Tech next year! Are you planning on going to? Are you a first-timer to Roots Tech, like me? Comment below and let me know, I could always use more genealogy friends and would love to plan a meetup!
