On January 19, 2012, my blog will be 1 year old! I remember when I made my first post…I was so nervous that no one would read my blog. I’m glad to find out that I didn’t need to worry about that. Well I would like to celebrate but instead of normally receiving gifts, I will be giving gifts to you, my readers as a thank you for your readership.
What do you have to do? Well, just post a comment to this post sometime between now and 6:00pm on Thursday, January 19th. You can let me know what you like about my blog and what you don’t like, advice, anything that has to do with my blog! I will use Random.org to pick the winning comments and post them at 8pm. After your name is listed as a winner, you have to email me your address with the subject line “Blog Anniversary Contest”. Once I receive your address, I will mail your prize to you.
Their are several prizes to be had. They are webinar-on-CD by Legacy Family Tree and Genealogy At A Glance on African American Genealogy Research by Michael Hait. I received them with my Geneabloggers swag bag when I attended the SCGS Jamboree in 2011. I have six CD’s prizes and one At A Glance available.
- Chasing Women: Finding Your Female Ancestors presented by Leland K. Meitzler (I have two of these)
- Backing Up your Genealogy Data presented by Thomas MacEntee
- Dropbox for Genealogist presented by Thomas MacEntee
- Blogging for Beginners
- More Blogging for Beginners both presented by Dear MYRTLE
- Building a Research Toolbox presented by Thomas MacEntee
- Genealogy At A Glance African American Genealogy Research by Michael Hait.
So there will be eight (8) winners total. Come on people, comment and win a prize!!! If you feel the urge, subscribe and become a regular reader. That would be awesome too!
Have a great weekend!!!
My Genealogy Obsession is a very interesting blog. Congrats on a year of blogging. Please keep up blogging.
Great Blog!
Congratulations on reaching one year. I think it requires commitment to keep up a blog. I’m looking forward to another great year!
Happy Birthday!!! I just found your blog today and I look forward to exploring it in the future. I just read part of your “about me” and like you I have been doing genealogical research for several years off and on and became more serious a few years ago. I have a great deal of respect for bloggers because I realize the commitment and dedication that it requires. So my hat is off to you and all the other genealogy bloggers out there. When I decided to become more serious about my obsession I started the American Records program with the National Institute for Genealogical Studies at the University of Toronto. It is a three part program with beginners, intermediate and advanced courses. It is an online program so it is very convenient and flexible.
I look forward to exploring your blog more and learning from your experience.
I hope you have a great birthday!!!!
Congratulations on your one year birthday! I am interested in following your blog as it is showing how you are developing as a blogger. Progress is what we all aim toward. I want to blog but have not had the courage to start yet. As you know, it is quite a committment! So, I’ll keep following your efforts and working toward getting enough guts to start my own! Inspiration!

Congratulations! I’m still trying to get up the nerve and energy to blog! I loved your post about ordering the death certificate for your grandmother. That is such good advice: When ALL of your searches are coming up without results, then one of your criteria is likely wrong. Loved it. Thanks
Happy Blogiversary!
Congratulations on the anniversary of your wonderful blog! I am looking forward to starting a
family history blog of my own. Reading through yours has been inspiring. Keep up the good work, and blog-on to your OBSESSION’S content!
