Hangin’ with the fun people was a great start for the day. It was topped off when my fellow ProGen 15 classmate and fellow fun person Terri O’Conner won the drawing for a full registration for NGS 2014 at the Opening Session of NGS 2013!
I had several lectures planned for the day here is the breakdown of them:
1. My first lecture was with Lise Louise Cooke on How the Genealogist Can Remember Everything with Evernote. This was a great lecture that I learned a lot about. I have been wanting to learn how best to utilize Evernote with my genealogy research and this lecture fit the bill. What I liked best was when she showed us how to clip just what we want and save it on Evernote.
2. My second lecture was with my favorite speaker, Elizabeth Shown Mills. Her lecture was on The Genealogical Proof Standard in Action. She used one of her clients cases as the case study and I enjoyed her lecture very much.
3. For my last lecture of the day, I was convinced to attend F. Warren Bittner’s lecture called Immpossible Immigrant! I know Everything about the Man Except where He Came From. It was the best decision. I learned to not give up when you have a bricks all and to be patient. He was very entertaining and I really loved it!
At the end of the day, me and my fellow “fun people” had dinner and hung out. All in all it was a great first day of NGS 2013!!!
Up next….Day Two of NGS 2013.
